Love Supreme! Newlyweds Celebrate with Late-Night Taco Bell Run

by | Dec 13, 2024 | COMMUNITY, POP CULTURE, WTF?!

It’s hard to think of a better marriage than love and cheap tacos. On a story that broke last week on Reddit/rva, newlyweds Grant and Ashlyn Serrels, Richmond locals, chose a celebration that felt true to them. On a chilly December night, after saying “I do” at The Mill at Fine Creek in Powhatan, Virginia, they headed to Taco Bell.

Not just any Taco Bell, though—this was the kind of stop that speaks to who you really are when the tuxedo jacket comes off and the veil is askew. The kind of stop that gets the bridal party chanting, “Crunchwrap Supreme!” and “Spicy Potato Tacos!”.

Grant’s sister, Emma Serrels, summed it up best: Ashlyn loves Taco Bell, and especially the Spicy Potato Soft Taco. That’s the kind of passion you respect. So they piled into a limo bus at 10 p.m., fueled by the glow of wedding bliss and the promise of late-night fast food salvation.

But like all good adventures, this one had a complication. The doors to the restaurant were locked. No problem—Grant, Ashlyn, and a couple of loyal supporters placed orders on the Taco Bell app and walked straight through the drive-thru line, on foot. The newlyweds stood at the window, waiting for their Crunchwraps and potatoes, when a voice came from behind. “Move along,” they were told, politely but firmly. There’s no room for romance in a drive-thru bottleneck.

“Ultimately we, as the wedding party, were just happy that Grant and Ashlyn were able to get their Spicy Potato Soft Tacos and Crunchwrap Supremes,” Emma said later. “That is what mattered most to us, making their day special.”

Of course, they had called ahead—Taco Bell was warned about the arrival of this celebratory convoy. Still, the logistics of love don’t always go as planned. The limo bus rolled away, tacos in hand, the smell of seasoned beef and melted cheese filling the air.

“The magic of this day will live with me and my family for years to come,” Emma reflected. “We are thrilled to welcome Ashlyn into the Serrels family. All is well in the world where love exists. May the rest of their lives be a Baja Blast.”
