DJ Boggle
(Turnstyle / Insomnia / Richmond VA)

DJ Boggle began making mixed tapes to inspire the boogie in those around him from an early age. He started spinning records in 1992 while enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. His early sound drew from 90’s house and rave/techno styles, and has since evolved into the funky, jazzy, and deep house sounds he plays today. In the early 90s, DJ Boggle started” Insomnia Productions”, which helped create greater opportunity for him to share and promote his music. The Insomnia parties in the early ’90’s are credited as some of the first underground rave events in Richmond to bring in both national and international DJ talents. In 1993 Boggle entered the first ever FEVER / BUZZ DJ Competition in Baltimore where he battled it out on the decks with some tough competition of the day. Soon after, DJ Boggle began to fully concentrate his talents more towards DJ’ing and began to travel extensively in VA, Baltimore/DC, NC, the Midwest , and throughout the East Coast to play records.

DJ Boggle has become a name that is synonymous with house music in Virginia. He has held several past residencies in Richmond and VA Beach nightclubs: Club Colours (now 534), The Metro, Twister’s, Fielden’s, Caffine’s, and The Abyss to name a few. He is currently affiliated with Pure Love , Turnstyle, and Evolve VA. His musical style is heavily influenced by Chicago house flavors, as well as the acid jazz sounds and trip hop beats of the mid 90’s. He cites musical artists like Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Miles Maeda, and Greg Eversoul as inspiration. DJ Boggle can be currently heard at PULSE (weekly Wednesday’s in Virginia Beach), PUSH (Turnstyle’s bi-monthly Thursday night in Richmond at Godfrey’s), regular guest DJ spotlight appearances on WRIR 97.3 (Sat nights – Richmond), and at First Friday Artwalks at Turnstyle Records (Richmond).
