It’s getting colder out there, Fall is in full swing with leaves changing, crazy Halloween antics going on including RVA Mag’s own Halloweek events, girls breaking out their scarves, leggings,and UGG boots and of course, the pumpkin spice lattes and autumn-inspired brews are taking over the city.
And in the midst of all that craziness, the hard working folks over here at RVA Magazine managed to release our new glossy Fall 2015 magazine with tons of content for you to pour over as you sip your pumpkin-spice-whip-chai-mocha frap what have you.
We are still coming off the high of our 10th anniversary, but we haven’t let up with interviews, exlusives, photos and much more for your reading pleasure.
First off, let’s credit the amazingly talented artist and illustrator James Callahan of Barf Comics for designing the cover art of this issue.
Inside, we talk to local pro skateboarder Trent Hazelwood on the RVA skate scene, leaving his job to go live his passion and how he’s been successful.
London graffiti artist D*Face discusses his street art journey and his views on the progressive mural movement.
A sneak peek into major events that you should have been checking out including the annual GWAR-B-Q, the highy anticiated UCI Bike Race, the annual Richmond Folk Festival and hanging out with the one, the only, Lauryn Hill at the Richmond Jazz Festival.
We catch up with RVA rock band Hot Dolphin, local producer Ant the Symbol, and provide a rundown of some new and hot tunage you should be listening to.
Our RVA On TAP section has quite a few tasty things brewing including Lakeside’s homebrew supply store Original Gravity’s new Brewpub, Final Gravity, Hardywood’s pint runneths over with fall brews such as Farmhouse Pumpkin Ale, their Trickery Imperial Milk Stout release on Halloween, and of course the holiday brew Gingerbread Stout that RVA goes bonkers over. Legend Brewing is continuing their “Urban Legend Series” with “The Bleeding Nun”, a spicy Oatmeal stout. Finally, Castleburg Brewery throws its hat into the craft beer ring in Scotts Addition. And this issue wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t acknowledge the outstanding and incredible murals that have popped up around the city, the muralists behind them that poured their heart and soul into the pieces and everyone that made Richmond Mural Project 2015 possible this summer.
