RVA MUSIC FEST: Best Coast

by | Sep 8, 2011 | COMMUNITY

This lo-fi pop trio from California transform the day-to-day reality of frontwoman Bethany Cosentino, a 20-something slacker who loves weed, TV, and her cats, into catchy tunes that draw equal inspiration from 60s retro sounds and the post-grunge indie rock of the 90s. Their most recent album, Crazy For You, is an instant classic, on which Motown girl-group vocal arrangements meet the pounding jangle of Pavement and Tuscadero in a simple but clear production that gets all the studio glitz out of the way and brings excellent songcraft to the forefront, where it should be. Best Coast will be performing during the RVA Music Fest on Stage One at the Main Event on Sunday September 11.
