Snow Increasing For Richmond and I-95 Corridor
Posted on January 27, 2014

Latest model data is showing a north and west trend with the precip. Moderate snow now reaches metro Richmond on both the GFS and NAM models, and even into Chesterfield and Henrico, and then dropping off sharply west of there. Expect snow to begin late Tuesday afternoon and pick up into the evening. Snow should come to an end by early Wednesday morning.

City of Richmond: 3-4”
Western Chesterfield/Midlothian area: 2-3”
Petersburg/Colonial Heights: 4-5”
Powhatan: 1-2”
Goochland: 1-2”

New, fresh model data hot off the press…I really didn’t think there would be a trend towards MORE snow further inland, but…it’s happening. To be clear, Richmond won’t see anything like what coastal areas will see, so no need to panic. But I am upping our totals a bit to 2-4 instead of dusting to 2″. If it seems I’m late in jumping on board, it’s because I try to look at *TRENDS* on the computer models, rather than looking at one model run and then going with what that model says on that particular update. After some anxious waiting, we now have a trend towards the north and west with this precip.

In 2005, I created RVA Magazine, and I'm still at the helm as its publisher. From day one, it’s been about pushing the “RVA” identity, celebrating the raw creativity and grit of this city. Along the way, we’ve hosted events, published stacks of issues, and, most importantly, connected with a hell of a lot of remarkable people who make this place what it is. The Light That Never Went Out

There is a spotlight still mounted in the rafters of 528 N. 2nd Street. It has been there since 1914. It has outlasted segregation, fire, the highway that cut Jackson Ward in two, and decades of silence. On the nights when the Hippodrome Theater fills up, that light...
