Last Wednesday RVA Magazine and Radio Rubber Room hosted yet another Open Stage Night at Cafe Diem (600 North Sheppard). It’s not your average open mic night, Open Stage Night offers the Richmond Music scene an opportunity to converge under one roof for a night of spirits, fun, good music and networking. It’s also a chance to get some face-time with RVA Magazine and the guys who started Radio Rubber Room. Last Wednesday we where joined by The Dream Machine, Mothball Fleet, The Dimmer Twins, Peoples Blues Of Richmond, Dane Ferguson, The Yerb and more. They brought their instruments and most of them played stripped down acoustic sets but the level of talent was extraordinary once again. Every week we are expecting a good turn out and a sign up sheet full of some very talented musicians. Do your part to help start a musical movement in Richmond and have a blast while you do it. We’ll also have a professional photographer booked every night as a “thank you” to all the great bands who contribute to this scene. Come out and get your picture taken!

Last week we had Joe Opyt from Joseph Opyt Photography came out again and took some great photos. Here are some our favorite images from last week.

Review | ‘Confederates’ Doesn’t Let Anyone Off Easy

ā€œOh, I’m going to have a field day with this.ā€ These were my exact words to friend and artist Kyle Epps as I got up from my seat at Firehouse Theatre Saturday night. As we shuffled out of the theatre into the lobby, I took inventory of the stack of insights Dominique...

There are two sides to every story, but a lot of the time, the first narrative is the one that sticks. Case in point: last week, an altercation broke out during one of the weekly neighborhood rides organized by the Broad Street Bullies. The ride has happened every...
