It’s finally here, ladies and gentlemen! We at RVA Magazine and Rubber Room Radio are proud to present a night of epic proportion, with special guests Air Circus and Tom Eats Jerry. The Air Circus features members of local groups Murphy’s Kids, AquaFuture, and EFBMF, among others, playing funk jams in a four-piece, dual keyboard lineup that grooves like you wouldn’t imagine. Meanwhile, Tom Eats Jerry are an experimental heavy rock trio who mix metallic progressive rock with funk and soul influences to create a sound that’s entirely their own. So cancel any other plans you had for this night, grab those dancing shoes and come down to On the Rox–who are offering food specials and $2.50 On The ROX draft beers for the occasion! The night will feature the filming for our live Kickstarter video (we’re raising money to buy better equipment and improve the live sound on our Radio Rubber Room broadcasts–plus to make all kinds of awesome Radio Rubber Room swag!), and will also showcase a photo booth to take pictures of all you beautiful and glamourous people! It’s going to be a night to remember for the ages.

WHAT: Radio Rubber Room Dance Party!
WHO: The Air Circus, Tom Eats Jerry
WHERE: On The Rox, 119 N. 18th St. (That’s tonight!)
WHEN: Friday April 27, 10 PM

Over a century ago, engineers from the Edison Company hauled their bulky recording equipment from New Jersey to Richmond, Virginia. In 1909, they captured one of the first interracial recording sessions in American history: Polk Miller, a white Confederate veteran...

The Felon Who Built Scott’s Addition

Before the beer taps and condos, before the buzzwords about ‘revitalization,’ Scott’s Addition’s future passed through the hands of a single man: Justin Glynn French. A convicted felon whose empire collapsed in scandal, he set the stage, even if unintentionally, for...

It’s Still Our City | Ep. 13 Stooping RVA

"The joy of finding a perfectly reusable gem on a sidewalk, in an alley, or on a porch stoop is one of the perks of living in such close proximity in the city of Richmond. The FOMO of not making it on your bike in time for a taxidermy dolphin or a surprisingly decent...
