A guide to Virginia Cider Week events in RVA

The Virginia Cider Week celebration kicked off over the weekend and now, through the 20th Richmonders can have their fill of hard cider tastings, workshops and other cider-related events around the city.

The Virginia Cider Week celebration kicked off over the weekend and now, through the 20th Richmonders can have their fill of hard cider tastings, workshops and other cider-related events around the city.

The week-long celebration launched in 2012 to showcase locally fermented ciders from across the Commonwealth for cider lovers to experience this historic craft firsthand while fostering economic growth and tourism.

There will be events going on all around Virginia, but below you can check out the events going all week in Richmond:

Monday, November 14

Buskey Cider/Blue Goat Dinner

The Blue Goat will serve Buskey Cider’s first ever cider dinner with five specialty courses paired with five Buskey Ciders. $55 a seat + tax & gratuity. Check out the menu here.

Potter’s Craft Cider Cask Night at the Cask Cafe

The Cask Cafe will tap a cask conditioned pin of Blackberry Brett cider, a keg of Farmhouse Saison and pouring bottles of Ryesap.

Tuesday, November 15

Cider Dinner with Potter’s and Southbound

A five course dinner at Southbound paired with five different ciders from Potter’s Craft Cider, including a cask conditioned pin of Oak Barrel Reserve with cinnamon and vanilla added for dessert. (804) 918-5431 for reservations $50. 7 pm.

Home Cidermaking Workshop

Blue Bee Cider is partnering with Original Gravity Homebrew Supplies to host a home cidermaking workshop. Learn about evaluating juice, making additions before fermentation, monitoring progress during fermentation and options for customizing your cider before bottling.

Workshop fee of $30 includes: one gallon of juice, carboy with airlock, yeast, yeast nutrient, lab flask, and funnel. 6-7:30 pm.

Potter’s Craft Cider Union Market

Taste an assortment of Potter’s Craft Ciders at Union Market from 5:30-8pm.

Wednesday November 16

Virginia Cider Tap night at District 5

A chance to try multiple ciders on tap from Potter’s Craft Cider, Buskey and Bold Rock at District 5. 5 to 9 pm.

Buskey Cider and Sugar Shack Donuts Collaboration

Buskey Cider and Sugar Shack have teamed or a delicious collaboration. Get their donuts specially made with Buskey Cider at this event served off of their gluten-free donut truck, and pair this scrumptious dessert with a pint of Buskey! 5pm-9m at Buskey Cider in Scott’s Addition.

Mini Wine (Cider) Dinner with Potter’s Craft Cider and 20 Paces

Dale Reitzer will design a 3 course dinner built around cider from Potter’s Craft Cider and farmstead cheeses from 20 Paces. $42 exclusive of grautity & tax. Menu is gluten free. 5:30-9p.

Thursday November 17

Potter’s Craft Cider Thai Ginger and Honey Cider at Sabai

Sabai and Potter’s Craft Cider will be tapping a special Thai Ginger and Honey Cider pin infused with kaffir lime, galangal, lemongrass, and some Thai chili peppers. There will also be a couple of ciders on tap and a special cider cocktail.

Potter’s Craft Cider Tasting with 20 Paces at Belmont Butchery

Belmont Butchery is hosting a unique tasting and pairing experience with a variety of Potter’s Craft Cider and 20 Paces, goat and sheep cheeses from 5-7pm.

Steal the Glass at Shyndigz

Featuring an array of Blue Bee Cider in bottles, paired by the glass with delectable Shyndigz desserts. First 25 to purchase a pour of cider take the Blue Bee Cider logo glass home as a souvenir.

Friday November 18

Buskey Cocktails at Fat Dragon

Fat Dragon Chinese Kitchen and Bar and Buskey Cider will be partnering up to celebrate Virginia Cider Week with BUSKEY COCKTAILS. Check out the drinks here.
