Our cup is overflowing with news this week, but first head over here to check out what awesome brews were released in Richmond last weekend.

We are still reeling from the election and need a big pick me up to get us through the next couple of days (years really). Luckily, We’ve got new beer releases, special holiday and seasonal brews, special events for to take your mind off politics so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

Cider fans rejoice! The Richmond Cider Celebration kicks off Saturday, Nov. 12 which will also kick off the Virginia’s week-long cider celebration. Join Enrichmond Foundation and the Virginia Cider Association for the 4th Annual Richmond Cider Celebration at the 17th Street Farmers Market. Cider makers from across VA will be on hand for tastings, demos, and interactive workshops. Tickets are $25 and include samples, a commemorative glass, and a wine tote.

The second big event going on this Sunday, Nov. 13, is Ploughman’s Feast: A Cider Week Event presented by Hill & Holler, a roving farm dinner event company. The event, hosted at Blue Bee Cider, will have a menu inspired by the period during which the historic Summit Stables once operated. Ploughman’s Feast will feature food from Dutch & Co., Stroops Heroic Dogs, JM Stock Provisions, & local cheeses from Twenty Paces along with at least eight local ciders including Blue Bee, Albermarle, Foggy Ridge, and Potter’s Craft. Live music provided by the Mikrowaves. Tickets are $35 each and include food and entry to this event. Cider is sold separately by the glass or bottle. The event will be held from 3 to 7 pm.

Richmond will host its 2nd Annual Hops in the Park this Saturday, Nov. 12 at Henricus Historical Park. Presented by Capital Ale House, the festival will allow attendees to taste craft creations from 21 Virginia breweries, cideries, and meaderies. There will also be a Virginia harvest beer tasting sponsored by WestRock Packaging, live music, food trucks, a Mickael Broth Art Gallery, a Virginia Grown farmers market and more. Admission is free, beer tickets are $2-$6. Learn more here.

Strangeways Brewing will release How Soon Is Now, an 8.4% DIPA this Saturday.

Lickinghole Creek will release its Citrus Pony Pasture brew this Saturday. Citrus Pony Pasture is a 5.7% Bohemian Pilsner dry hopped with American grown Lemondrop hops and cold conditioned on lemon & lime zest. There will be live music, food trucks, and you can check out the beer lineup at the link above.

Steam Bell Beer Works will release The Dawson this Saturday and Sunday. The beer is a 6.5% Amber Ale brewed with fresh sweet potatoes and toasted pumpkin seeds. Perfect for fall!

Midnight Brewery just released a new brew last week that we accidentally missed. Go check out their new “May The Schwarzs Be With You”, a clean black lager with just a hint of a slight roast.

Reminder to grab your tickets while you can for Garden Grove Brewing’s beer dinner Mon. Nov. 28.
The dinner will feature chef Kevin Church of Postbellum serving up five courses paired with five of GG’s craft brews. $38 plus tax & tip. You can grab your tickets here.

Castleburg Brewery in Scott’s Addition will release ‘You Have No Power Over Me’, an Imperial IPA this Friday. The brewery combined caramel malts with mosaic and amarillo hops to produce this 8.1% Imperial IPA.

It’s also Veteran’s Day, so Castleburg Brewery will offer all military, active or retired, a Veteran’s Day discount on their beer purchases.
