Each year, the expo brings over 50 breweries and craft beer lovers together for a grand event full of craft beer tastings, seminars, workshops, over 15 events, and more. The walk around grand tasting allows guests to taste their way through more than 170 Virginia and American craft beers.

The “Beers, Blues and Bootlegging” party will be in the spirit of the Prohibition era, featuring limited edition brews, and deep bluesy jazz with the swing stylings of Victor Wainwright and The Wild Roots, The Syndicators, and Rumble Seat Revival.

The beer lineup for the kickoff party includes Hardywood Kentucky Christmas Morning, Lickinghole Creek Chocolate Obsession Imperial Stout, Avery Maharaja, J Wakefield Rich Girl (Strawberry Basil Saison), J Wakefield El Jeffe (Coconut Hefeweizen), Center of the Universe Treat Yourself, A Collaboration w/ Elliot in the Morning, and Devils Backbone Apple-Achian Pie Stout.

This year’s National Beer Expo kicks off July 13th with a locavore dinner at Quirk Hotel’s restaurant Maple and Vine. The event will run through the 16th with the annual taco throwdown, brewery parties, and the main event walk around grand tasting on Saturday at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.

New this year on Saturday is “Farm Country Feast”, an event at the historic John Marshall Ballroom featuring local smoked, southern, soul and Cajun cuisine, rare, vintage and limited release craft beers from Virginia and around the U.S., Virginia whiskeys, spirits and cider, and live music.

Capital Ale House’s “Beers, Blues and Bootlegging” party starts at 5 pm on Thursday, July 14th at their downtown location on East Main Street. Tickets are $12 at the door, and $10 at the door for National Beer Expo ticket holders. Tickets for the National Beer Expo vary depending on which events you attend, but the grand tasting alone costs $45. All other tickets and packages can be found here.
