This summer, the Richmond Convention Center will play host to one of the largest beer gatherings this city has ever seen. With the goal of “celebrating artisan-made American craft beer and the Richmond region’s culinary, brewing and cultural excellence,” the National Beer Expo has been formally announced and will happen July 15th-20th.

Expect craft beer from RVA and around the world, a national brewers market, tastings, brewery tours and everything else your beer-loving-heart could desire.

The event is being organized by some of the folks from the VA Wine Festival, another successful booze-focused event held every year here in RVA – but with the switch from grapes to hops, it’s sure to light a fire under our city’s craft-brew loving behinds.

“What I want to do is create a premier, national destination craft beer event that primarily focuses on fine American craft beer and local food,” said Alex Papajohn from Variant Events and the Executive Director of the Virginia Wine Expo. RVA’s own Capital Ale House is the title sponsor of the event, and CAH’s President Matthew Simmons said he was excited to bring one of his own passions, craft brewing, further into the spot light.

“We feel that we have been a big part of the craft beer movement locally,” said Simmons. “We hope to continue to be an influencer by making this the premier beer event on the East Coast.”

We’ll bring more details as this event gets closer, but until then follow the event on Facebook here.
