What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts desire.

So 2017 started off pretty crazy and it seems it’s just getting crazier by the day, but one thing you can count on is RVA Mag will always have the scoop on where you can go to get the finest craft beer in town! This week we have new beer releases, events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!
Buskey Cider is celebrating their one year anniversary this whole weekend and they’ve planned quite the celebration. THREE new ciders are coming your way, including our special Hoppy Birthday Hopped Cider release. On Friday they will release Cyser, a collab with Black Heath Meadery. Brazilian wildflower honey. Fermented with their base Apple blend and House yeast strain. Balance of honey and apple. 13.5% ABV
On Saturday, its their Hoppy Birthday Cider and on Sunday, Buskey will release Stayman In Business Cider, using Stayman apples sourced from Virginia’s Silver Creek Orchard. Lush Cupcakes will be selling their Buskey cupcakes in the tasting room on Saturday!
Triple Crossing will release two brews in cans this Friday at their Fulton location. The brewery will release Nectar and Knife DIPA and Far From Dawn, an imperial stout.
Isley will release its weekly infusion on Friday and this one sounds absolutely delicious. This week it will be a “melonball smoothie” version of their Belgian white brew, the Plain Jane.
On Friday, Hardywood will release Empress Evelyn, an imperial IPA in a 16 oz can release.
Tonight grab your pup and go enjoy a pint at Strangeways Brewing for their Yappy Hour. 10% of ALL SALES from 6pm-close will go directly to Richmond Animal Care and Control Foundation. Adoptable dogs on site.
on Friday, Strangeways will host Brews & Burlesque with Moxie LaBouche and Dante The Inferno along with performances by many others! Tickets are $9 in advance, $12 at the door.
Steam Bell Beer Works will release Old Beau, a 7.3% American IPA hopped with Columbus, El Dorado and Simcoe hops then dry hopped with El Dorado and Simcoe making for a tropical fruit-flavored brew.
Garden Grove Brewing Company will host a beer dinner this Monday, April 24 featuring Chef Scott Lewis of Laura Lee’s. Five courses of cuisine matched with five GG brews in the comfortable, casual taproom setting. $39 plus tax & tip, Reservations Required. Details here.
To celebrate Earth Day, Ashland brewery Center of the Universe will have an Earth Day Market Saturday featuring assortment of artisan vendors and growers from around the region selling their handmade, farmed and fermented products. Live music and food trucks.
The Veil Brewing Co. is hosting their Third Thursday charity happy hour celebration once again and this time, from 5pm-8pm, 15% of sales will be going to Beacon Tree Foundation – Beacon Tree Foundation focuses on Mental Health Education, Advocacy, Access and Funding for Central Virginia families whose children are struggling with mental health issues as well as drug and alcohol addiction that often accompanies mental illness.
Three Notch’d Brewing Company RVA Collab House will release their weekly collaboration on Thursday, “Daily Ration”, a Belgian Table Beer in collaboration with The American Civil War Museum and the Tredegar Society.
