81 years ago today, the Cullen-Harris Act went into effect, ending the 13 year alcohol prohibition in the US. Now, we here in RVA probably take advantage of the free-flow of suds, but it’s important to remember the beer lovers of years past who fought for our right to imbibe… even on a Monday.

81 years ago today, the Cullen-Harris Act went into effect, ending the 13 year alcohol prohibition in the US. Now, we here in RVA probably take advantage of the free-flow of suds, but it’s important to remember the beer lovers of years past who fought for our right to imbibe… even on a Monday.

So head on out to your favorite pub, or stop by and snag a 6 pack on your way home from work. Just make sure you raise your glass or can to our boozy forefathers.

To commemorate this important holiday, the ever vigilant President of RVA Mag, John Reinhold, stopped by the good folks at Legend Brewery to make the RVA Pin for Legends 20th Anniversary on April 19th!

In the end it ended up being the most extreme pin ever to be made at Legends! We used the 20th Anniversary Imperial Brown straight siphoned from bourbon barrels. We had to eventually use a fork lift to get the needed help from gravity to get the beer from barrel to pin.

So here we have it: RVA’s Double Bourbon Barrel Imperial Vanilla Brown!

We used split Vanilla Beans, added a heap of bourbon barrel char with yeast and Imperial Brown to achieve this monumental success! Pics or it didn’t happen: Here you go ….
