It’s coming a bit late this year, but the annual Ipanema Cafe Spring Beer Dinner is back for the 6th year and it’s got some exciting new options for veggie-only folks.

Kendra Murden said the event is usually held in the winter, but their new partnership with RVA’s own Arden Craft Ales pushed the event back some.

“Last year we had five breweries, but this year we’re just using Arden…” said Murden ahead of Sunday’s dinner. She said working with one brewer forced them to really dive into what was available for the two groups, but she said they “were really able to nail down what they had with what we had to offer.”

Beyond the chance to try new and exciting food/beer combos, Murden said the all-veggie angle is something you don’t find often. “A lot of people don’t get the option for a vegetarian beer or wine dinner,” she said.

With long-time Ipanema Chef Will Wienckowski building the menu, it’s easy to see why Murden is excited. Some menu items, like Ardent’s Belgian Brown Ale with Malted Barley Grits, Mushrooms, and Bok Choy, were uniquely made for the event.

It’s not the only beer-inspired option to get pumped about – the Dark Rye Stout with Chocolate Malt and Rye Ice Cream Sandwich sounds pretty amazing here too.

* Virginia Common with bar snacks
