It’s been an amazing tournament for RVA Beer Madness. No matter who wins in the end, it’s been a big win for beer in RVA!

Before we get to the final matchup, we would like to thank all the great businesses and beer spots that make this town a wonderful place to find craft brews. It keeps growing, so we are excited for what the future holds for RVA Beer Madness and RVA’s beer culture. We also want to thank our friends and readership for taking the time to vote in each round for your favorite places in RVA.

So let’s get down to it. In the Final Four, we saw some of the top teams in RVA battle it out to make the championship round. In the East we had the top seeded Capital Ale House, who breezed through the competition until running into the popular Hardywood Park Craft Brewery to see who rules the East in 2014.

Hardywood pulled out a convincing win by staying ahead in the game, and now represents the east-RVA beer bars in the Championship Round.

In the West, we had the hot team in Carytown, Portrait House, battling against the #1 Beer Bar in America, Mekong. This classic David vs. Goliath matchup with Portrait House was surging early in the matchup and was riding its ever-popular hot hand.

Late in the game, however, Mekong brought out the big guns and made it rain from beyond the arc. In the end. Mekong pulled ahead and finished the game with a nice lead. Now the Goliath that is Mekong represents the West and the pinnacle of Beer Bars in RVA.

The Championship Round is now here! Hardywood vs Mekong in a classic matchup that many think will go down in RVA Beer History! It’s Beer Bar vs Beer Bar, award winner vs award winner!

Not an easy choice here folks, so follow your gut. Like we said, in the end we all win because this town has access to so many great places to enjoy craft beer! Thanks again for your votes!
