by | Mar 24, 2017 | RESTAURANT NEWS

Welcome to RVA BEER MADNESS and The Sweet 16!

A big thank you again to all the amazing beer teams that have been a part of this tournament and a huge congratulations to the teams that have made it into The Elite 8!!

We had just a few really close match ups for Sweet 16, with one exciting come from behind victory in the end!!

Let’s look at the close match ups –

The Fan / Scotts Addition:
This region had some really close games. Garden Grove pulled out a victory against the always strong Ellwoods, but they kept it close for a bit – but in the end the brewery hit on all the fast breaks and pulled ahead. Cary Street Cafe was well ahead on the boards heading into halftime against Mellow Mushroom, but the locker room speech was something to behold, and Mellow hit its stride in the second half shooting lights out. They pulled out a HUGE come up from behind to victory!!

West End / South Side / Other
The former Champion Mekong kept its strong game going and was able to hold off a streaming COTU to pull in a spot in the Elite 8 on its way to the finals. Ok here we go! In the biggest game of this tourney so far we had a matchup that was so highly contested. This game was back and forth for two days strait. HUGE swings, HUGE game here folks. The Answer and Final Gravity both pulled in massive votes – but by the 4th one started to pull ahead. So making history in RVA BEER Madness with their first appearance and advancing to the Elite 8 is Final Gravity!!

Huge congrats again to the teams again, the bracket below has the matchups for Elite 8, good luck all!

Current Tournament Bracket:
