Rio isn’t the only place with hot competition these days.

Rio isn’t the only place with hot competition these days. On Tuesday the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild awarded the best brews in the state at WestRock and a number of local breweries took home medals.

No Richmond-based beers placed in the Best of Show competition at the 2016 Virginia Craft Beer Cup, with James River Brewery from Scottsville taking home the top prize for its River Runner ESB, Old Bust Head Brewing Company placing second and Backroom Brewery in third.

But RVA’s hometown heroes made strong showings in other categories. Ardent, Legend, The Answer, Triple Crossing and Midnight Brewery all took home two awards. Castleburg, Lickinghole, Hardywood, Strangeways, Garden Grove and Steam Bell placed as well.

Check out the full list of winners.

What the F@ck is Orange Wine?! (and Where to Find It in Richmond)

And no, it’s not made from oranges.. The first time I encountered orange wine (or skin contact white wine), I was wowed by the color and it’s presentation. It’s gorgeous. This beautiful, amber-hued liquid danced around the edges of my swirling wine glass. I gave it a...
