RVA 50 Mile Fest

The RVA 50 Mile Fest is an independent sustainability festival for the Richmond, VA community! On Saturday Nov 4th, Gallery5 will become the hub for all things sustainable around Richmond, VA.

Learn more about why food miles matter, get to know some local makers, consider options for home energy savings, learn about backyard gardens, dig into some composting tips, hear experts speak on these issues on stage, try one-of-a-kind local cocktails, and more!

Did you know that Scientists have estimated that a typical dinner’s ingredients travel over 1500 miles before they get on your plate? What about other household items? Your clothes? Energy? Hats? Nightcaps? Fear not citizens, RVA has always been a big supporter of local items, but now we’ll have a chance to gather some of our local makers into one place for our community to learn about the many daily items that we can get without getting all those long distance transport miles involved.

The RVA 50 Mile Fest will go from noon to 5pm, is open to all ages, and is a totally free to the public event. We’re excited to partner with sustainability minded folks like CompostRVA, Belle Isle Moonshine, Groundwork RVA, Freakin’ Rican food truck, Nate’s Bagels, and beyond!

Stay tuned, more info coming soon!!
