DJ Pari Presents: Sweet Soul

by | Feb 14, 2013 | MUSIC

Here’s a special treat for you this Valentine’s Day from DJ Pari of the Soulpower RVA crew and WRIR’s Midnight Soulstice radio show.

Here’s a special treat for you this Valentine’s Day from DJ Pari of the Soulpower RVA crew and WRIR’s Midnight Soulstice radio show. He describes this mix as being for “a mature relationship,” rather than “your typical baby-making music.” Featuring tracks by The Impressions, The O’Jays, The Chymes, The Soul Walkers, and many more, this mix is, according to Pari, “the real deal.” “These songs tell the story of any typical marriage: the sweet moments, the ups and downs, the challenges,” he relates. “And what unites all of these tunes is that they are about love – and this makes them sweet.” So whether you’re in a long-term relationship or just starting down that road, share this mix with your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, and luxuriate in the wonderful healing sounds of classic soul music.

Don’t forget that DJ Pari and Mr. Felty will be kicking off the latest edition of their Soulpower dance party this Saturday night. The magic happens starting at 10:30 PM on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Balliceaux, located at 203 N. Lombardy St. Show up with your dancing shoes on, and prepare to hear a great collection of rare soul and R&B 45s played on the original vinyl. The crew is promising loads of music that’s never been played at any previous edition of Soulpower, so no matter how many past Soulpower dance parties you’ve been to, you still want to make sure you’re in attendance at Balliceaux this Saturday night! As always, admission is free, so get stoked, and we’ll see you there!
