To celebrate their 10 year anniversary, Silent Music Revival will screen Ladislas Starevich’s 1913 film, The Night Before Christmas this weekend at Gallery5.

The series regularly screens classic silent short films which are projected while local musicians act as the live soundtrack. As an added twist the band does not see the film prior to the screening, thus creating a score on the spot.

For this event, RVA’s groove powerhouse band Rattlemouth will be providing the live score.

This film isn’t based on the poem, but comes from the traditional story of a witch and a demon stealing the moon on the night before Christmas. It’s origins share a lineage with the Krampus legend.

Take a look at a clip from the film below.

Silent Music Revival will screen The Night Before Christmas at Gallery5 on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 8pm.
