Hot Fun In the Summertime: Weekend Playlist, Heat Wave Edition

by | Jul 31, 2020 | MUSIC

Every Friday night, RVA Mag brings you a totally rockin’ playlist curated by Virginia’s most influential artists, musicians, and institutions.

This time around, the RVA Mag staff decided to pull together a special heat-beating playlist to commemorate the three solid weeks of 90-plus-degree temperatures we’ve faced in this city. It’s true — if today’s highs go above 90 degrees, it’ll be the 21st straight day in which that’s happened here in Richmond. And I don’t know if you’ve been outside lately… but it is just TOO. DAMN. HOT.

The forecast is calling for storms all weekend, but they aren’t supposed to do anything to drop the temperature (or, worse yet, the humidity) until at least Monday. So this ain’t over yet. Therefore, we’d like to bring you a collection of hip hop, metal, punk, pop, and indie tunes that you can crank up to chase away the hot weather blues today and all weekend. Hopefully it’ll help you get through the weekend without too much unwanted sweat.

Stay cool, Virginia.
