Hey guys, this one fell in our laps at the last minute, but if you’re a fan of that stuff the kids call “djent” these days, you’re gonna want to pay attention, because we have a pair of tickets to give away for Animals As Leaders’ show at 9:30 Club this Saturday, May 17!

These maniacal shredders, made up of guitarists Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes and drummer Matt Garstka, have VA roots in that Abasi originally made his name playing with Fredericksburg’s own Reflux. Since beginning as an Abasi solo project in 2007, they’ve gone through a few different lineups before solidifying the current configuration in 2012. Their third album, The Joy Of Motion, just came out on Sumerian Records back in March, and you can see the abstract, hypnotic video for first single “Lippincott” right here:

Along with Conquering Dystopia and Chon, Animals As Leaders will be taking the stage this Saturday night at the 9:30 Club to wow the assemblage with their technical chops and complex songcraft. It’s guaranteed to be a fun evening, so if you haven’t made any plans, why not come check it out?

WHAT: Animals As Leaders Reign Over The 9:30 Club!
WHO: Animals As Leaders, Conquering Dystopia, Chon
WHERE: 9:30 Club, 815 V St NW, Washington DC
