Enforced, Richmond Vampire & Vigil: Punk Report RVA

by | Dec 5, 2023 | METAL, PUNK, THRASH & HARDCORE, MUSIC

Punk, metal, thrash and hardcore music fans rejoice! Welcome to Punk Report RVA, your go-to source for all things mosh worthy in Richmond, VA. Every week, I, CJ, will bring you the latest shows, releases and reviews with the bands of the underground hardcore music scene. This week I’ll be kicking things off with the newest single from Enforced, the mad as hell fury of Richmond Vampire, and a Holiday music alternative by Vigil.

Enforced – “Casket” (Visual Video)

It’s been a good year for Enforced fans! Following up their album “War Remains” the current kings of thrash have released their new single “Casket”, a once exclusive track on Decibel Magazine’s flexi series in January 2022. Frontman Knox is no stranger to covering the dark subjects of war but on this track he instead turns his attention towards alcohol abuse and the downfall of the self associated with it. Check out their Instagram here.

Richmond Vampire – “Hollywood” (Single)

Carrying the torch of the great RVA hardcore bands before them, Richmond Vampire exude their raw rage and talent for writing fast but catchy riffs on their track “Hollywood.” The song will be over before you know it but you’ll be hitting replay to catch everything they have just thrown your way.

Vigil

If Holiday songs aren’t your thing Blackened Thrash band Vigil offer an alternative for you cheeky sinners. Proudly wearing their influences on their sleeve, the band manages to take elements from the likes of Zorn, Slayer, and fellow Richmonders Enforced and make it uniquely their own. Blistering fast guitars accompany the shrieking blackened vocals of their female singer before going into one of the bands many exciting guitar solos. Do yourself a favor and listen to their Demo ’23. Check out their Instagram here.

What I’m Listening To

High Command
Eclipse of the Dual Moons (Album)

Thrash Metal meets High Fantasy? Sign me up! This has been one of my favorite records and one that I keep coming back to time and time again. The production and songwriting here are top notch and the riffs and guitar solos on this record are some of my favorites in the genre. As an added bonus they’re translating the lyrics into a full blown comic book. Go give this one a listen.

My favorite tracks

  • Siege Warfare
  • Immortal Savagery
