Richmond’s own Nickelus F dropped a new track late last week and it’s a love song for the city he call’s home.

“Richmond” dropped late Friday night and it’s already built up over 3,500 spins on Soundcloud.

“It’s my experience here. It’s some Richmond shit,” said F in an interview last week. “It’s got bounce to it, [it’s] soulful and eerie at the same time.”

The track weaves a story of RVA, a city F obviously loves. Where he first learned to smoke grass, where he got his first piece of ass, weaving through South Side, all set to a haunting piano beat.

Have a listen below:

F also gave some insight into his next release, Triflin’, his first since Yellow Gold 2 (Nickelus F & Ohbliv) in 2013. He’d hoped to release it before the end of 2014, but said we shouldn’t hold out, and could see it as late as early 2015.

Still working entirely solo, F continued his trend of writing and recording Triflin’ by himself. He said he recorded some featured artists on the tracks for the album, but he might cut them and run the tracks with additions later.

Either way, F promises Triflin’ to be a personal release. “I go more in depth, telling my story with this take,” said F. “It’s where I’m at now with it.”

He said people got to see him grow – his flaws, his mess ups, his days on BET’s 106 & Park Freestyle Fridays, and he thinks they saw him get better.

“I’ve been doing it for a long time, people got to see my progression,” said F. “Right now, I’m in my own.”

Keep an eye out for Triflin‘ in the coming months, and stay up to date with F via Twitter here.
