Hip hop artist Noah-O definitely reps RVA, but for his newest video “Trap”, the rapper, travelled to Detroit to shoot the heavy, hard-hitting single from his debut album Monument Avenue to capture the essence of of the gritty motor city.

Directed by Larence Raines and produced by Taylor Whitelow, “Trap” shows the darkness and dreariness of the city, along with broken down buildings, but the music and lyrics are positive and uplifting and send a message. While there’s a mention here and there of money and women, it’s not the focus as with many hip hop songs that are coming out these days, there’s actually some substance. Coupled with Whitelow’s sampling, Noah-O and Whitelow make for a great musical team.

Noah-O dropped Monument Avenue last year. You can listen to “Trap” and the rest of the album below:
