All the indie kids out there should be stoked to hear about this one. Panda Bear, known to the US government as Noah Lennox and the Pitchfork massive as one-fourth of psychedelic experimentalists Animal Collective, is preparing to release his first solo album in three years. Tentatively titled Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper, the album’s songs are mostly done, and the man himself has spent a good bit of 2014 on the road bringing the tunes to his fans in a live environment. You too can check out the new music Mr. Bear has in store for you next week when he touches down at the Jefferson Theater for a Tuesday night performance featuring a boatload of new tunes. We’ve only heard a studio demo of one song so far, and you can check out the swirling weirdness of “Cosplay” right now:

But of course that’s just the beginning of what you can expect to hear at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville next Tuesday. Panda Bear will be supported at this date by Blues Control, an avant-garde duo who mix guitars, synths, and tape loops in the sort of patterns that should be enjoyable for any fan of Animal Collective–and we assume all of you who have read this far are exactly that! So head up 64 next Tuesday and enjoy some sweet, ethereal, and totally weird (in the best possible way) sounds from Panda Bear–and win bragging rights about hearing his new stuff before all your boring friends who stayed home!

WHAT: Panda Bear meets the Grim Reaper at The Jefferson Theater!
WHO: Panda Bear, Blues Control
WHERE: The Jefferson Theater, 110 E. Main St, Charlottesville VA
WHEN: Tuesday, September 16, Doors open at 7 PM
ADMISSION: $20 in advance/$23 at the door–order tickets HERE

And hey, guess what–you could score those bragging rights for free! Your pals at RVA Mag have a pair of tickets to see Panda Bear at the Jefferson Theater next Tuesday, and you can win them for your very own self by plugging your info into the sweet Punchtab widget below. Look for extra chances to win, and be sure to enter by Friday at noon, because that’s when we’re wrapping up this whole shindig!
