Psychedelic rock band Thai Sun releases new EP

Psychedelic-rock group Thai Sun released their final version of their much-anticipated EP last month.

Psychedelic-rock group Thai Sun released their final version of their much-anticipated EP last month.

RVA Mag first discovered these guys back in November when they had released a song “Strawberry 5” from their DIY EP and were intrigued by their hard rock Led Zepplin-esque sound ever since.

The band was busy playing house shows, but managed to churn out this three-song EP that’s reminiscent of a 60s psych vibe mixed with some Black Sabbath heavy metal sounds. The EP was mixed and mastered by Nelson Espinal.

And sadly, it looks as though their frontman Jake Perkins recently passed, but the group put this postive message out on their Facebook for all their fans:

“Over the past two years we’ve had the time of our lives making music together and sharing that experience with everyone. That being said it is with heavy hearts that we tell you that Thai Sun as it was will not continue. As most of you by now know our best friend and frontman, Jake Perkins will never grace the stage with his presence again. Music was the most important thing in Jake’s life, and being able to create music together with him was the most important thing in our lives. And while that cannot continue to happen the same way that it was, the three of us will never stop making music together.”

No shows are on the horizon just yet, but stay tuned for more on Thai Sun, this band is going places.
