The Melvins head to The Broadberry in August

by | Apr 27, 2017 | ROCK & INDIE

Richmond is getting doused in sludge on August 8 when The Melvins grace The Broadberry with their brand of punk jams.

The Melvins, forming in the 1980s, have been a staple of punk music since riding the waves of Washington grunge popularity into national embrace.

The Melvins, not far from their 2016 release, Basses Loaded, an album featuring a myriad of bassists involved with the band in the last decade as well as guest appearances from Steven Shane Mcdonald of Redd Kross and Krist Novoselic, the band already are set for a 2017 release.

A Walk With Love and Death will be out July 7 through Ipecac Recordings, features Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, and Steve McDonald. It’ll be a double album including the score for a short film, “Love,” which The Melvins produced, and an LP titled Death.

“This was a huge undertaking. All three things: the album, the soundtrack, and the film are benchmarkers for us,” Osborne is quoted on the band website.

Guests for the new album include Anna Waronker (That Dog), Teri Gender Bender (Crystal Fairy), and Joey Santiago (The Pixies).

This tour is the longest the band has ever done. I wouldn’t miss the opportunity, no telling when and if you’ll get another chance.

Tickets, which you can snag here, go on sale Friday, 4/28.
