RVA hip hop review: Kash-Damaged Goods

If you know anything about me, you know I’m not good at the whole relationship business. That being said, breaking up with someone always sucks.

If you know anything about me, you know I’m not good at the whole relationship business. That being said, breaking up with someone always sucks. Mostly because of the void, but also because while its liberating to move forward, there’s all these subconscious moments of reflection and epiphanies…which really can be a good thing, if you’re ready. Kash was in a relationship with a chick he thought was the one. Its clear, being that he dedicated a whole project to this lady, that she had him open. Now this isn’t a situation where we have him begging for her to come back, pining over RnB records. This is more about him accepting what happened and what is happening, this is about surrender.

Kash is a local hip hop artist and producer that recently released “Damaged Goods.”

What’s interesting here is that the project is comprised of several conversations, some with his producer Skinny, and one with his mom as well, about what happened. Sometimes it comes off a bit immature, but the sincerity is real nonetheless and the production is in line with the overall tone. The best record on here, “Broken English” produced by Skinny, has Kash retelling some of his favorite moments between he was fortunate enough to share with this person over a beat that is just traditionally Hip-Hop enough to not be something you would expect someone to singing on. I do have to say, Kash does not once diss this lady, which is impressive, and he doesn’t sing either, which is appreciated, and even though he does now consider himself to be damaged, I’m pretty sure in the long run, he’ll be good. Her loss, your gain my man.
