One of RVA’s best live bands has changed their name, and while specifics are unavailable at the moment, a new track has emerged under the new name, and a band member has confirmed they are back in the studio.

Yesterday the Facebook Page for “Black Girls” was changed to “Rikki Shay”, though they last performed under the old name in late August (old posts were not removed).

A soundcloud link was also posted with the song “Changing of the Heart” as the only track:

Perhaps a telling sign of the name change, “Changing of the Heart” opens with the lines “I never wanna see you anymore, yea I/ I never want to see yea/ I have never for anyone dear cared more, but now I guess I have to/ find somebody I can love like you”

A request for an interview with band member Drew Gillihan was delayed as they were “working on the new track right now,” so the good news is the band is still hard at work.

We wont go into the politics of the old name – we’ll leave that to the facebook comments section, and Katie Alice Greer of Priests who refused to play with them at Fall Line fest back in 2014 – but we’re pumped to see the rest of the crew still putting out good tunes.
