One of RVA’s hardest working bands Manatree is back with a new video for a track off their dope-as-hell self-titled album released last year.

Shot in the Carver neighborhood house where most of the band lives, the video features a live performance of the track “Animal Quietlies” with band members Jack Mayock (vocals, guitar), Tristan Fisher (guitar, vocals) Noma Illmensee (bass, vocals) and Alex Elder (percussion) doing what they do best.

Check out the video below:

According to Illmensee, The idea for the video was to go with Henry Sho Kellam of Mikan Media into the band’s house and film as much as possible before the sun went down.

“We’ve worked with [Mikan Media] on a bunch of projects and really trust his eye,” Illmensee said. “We set up some gear in the living room, invited friends over, and let one idea lead to the next.”

The band aimed for a simple focuses on the “intimate visual details of our environment and those who inhabit it.”

While there is no single narrative for the video, there are a number of happenings, from games of Settlers of Katan to minor surgery being performed.

“You can draw a lot of conclusions as to what the meaning of the video or the stories are,” Illmensee said. “but we went into the shoot just wanting to have a good time.”

Keep up with Manatree on Facebook here and you can catch the band live at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery on Saturday, 9/24, along with Spooky Cool and Ava Luna.
