The Vibrant Sounds of Lake Street Dive Come To Richmond

by | Nov 4, 2021 | MUSIC

It’s chilly today, but Richmond weather remained warm through late October, which offered the perfect opportunity for fans to enjoy the live sounds of Lake Street Dive and Sammy Rae & The Friends at Virginia Credit Union Live. Lucienne Nghiem was on hand to capture the images and be swept away by the sweet sounds of the evening.

On the evening of Friday, October 22, Lake Street Dive and Sammy Rae & The Friends rocked Virginia Credit Union Live! with hit songs, energetic performances, and the perfect show on a chilly fall night.

The night was opened by Sammy Rae & Friends. An eight-person band with a range of incredible talents, they had the crowd screaming their lyrics at every tune. They played songs off of their 2021 EP, Let’s Throw A Party, as well as older favorites. The lead singer, Sammy Rae, is a multi-talented musician whose strong vocals and charismatic charm dazzled the audience. The energy of the crowd was vibrant. Here are some photos to capture the unforgettable performance:

The show was headlined by Lake Street Dive, a Brooklyn-based multi-genre quartet. They played brand new songs from their 2021 album, Obviously, and the fans knew every word. From dance-worthy upbeat tunes to slow paced tracks, their range is so admirable and kept the show lively at every moment. With Rachael Price’s clean and beautiful vocals and lively instrumental solos, Lake Street Dive is a must see on their tour.

Photos from the night capture how fierce, memorable, and heartwarming the performances from both Lake Street Dive and Sammy Rae & The Friends were. Their stage presence and confidence onstage beamed onto the audience. Seeing music lovers in the Richmond community come out for a favorite of the city’s was a beautiful scene.
