Win tickets to see Bob Mould at the 9:30 Club!

Does Bob Mould need an introduction? I’d hope not, but I’ll hedge my bets and tell you that he started out as the frontman for seminal 80s punks Husker Du, then fronted the incredible 90s alternative rock group Sugar. These days he makes (really great) solo records, his 10th and most recent being Beauty & Ruin, released earlier this year.

His current backing band of bassist Jason Narducy (Verbow) and drummer Jon Wurster (Superchunk) is just another in the long line of incredible trios Mould has fronted over the years, and they’re sure to rock the hell out of the 9:30 Club this Saturday, just as Mould has been doing for 30 years. Just in case you don’t believe it, I’ve got proof–the video for “I Don’t Know You Anymore,” Beauty & Ruin’s excellent first single. Enjoy the hilarious cameo by Decemberists’ Colin Meloy at the beginning of the video, and keep an eye out for the obscure Pixies reference you have to be a major nerd to get (though I’ll give you a hint).

It’s truly amazing that the guy’s still coming up with songs that great after 21 albums (and maybe more, I’m not sure I counted right), isn’t it? He’ll have a whole night’s worth of great stuff like that for you at the 9:30 Club next Saturday, and you’re not gonna want to miss it!
