Fans of talented musical feats of improvisation, listen up! Long-running jam/prog gurus Umphrey’s McGee will return to Virginia next week for a performance at Charlottesville’s Jefferson Theater, and you could attend for free courtesy of your friends at RVA Mag! The Indiana sextet released their eighth studio album, Similar Skin, last year; the album was their first after leaving ATO Records for their own Nothing Too Fancy label. The transition too self-employment doesn’t seem to have hurt the band’s boundless energy or songwriting prowess one iota, as can be seen on this live-in-studio footage featuring new song “Puppet String”:
