Baroness, hailing from Savannah, Georgia, has been a force in the heavy metal scene since 2003. Originally comprised of childhood friends John Baizley, Tim Loose, Summer Welch, and Allen Blickle from Lexington, Virginia, the band has seen numerous lineup changes over the years, with Baizley remaining the steadfast anchor.
Baroness deftly weaves a tapestry of heavy metal styles, blending sludge, progressive, and alternative elements into their unique sound. Pitchfork aptly describes their music as “rock that folds in more metal leanings, along with something more delicate and spare,” capturing the band’s dynamic range and artistic depth.
