Dear City of Richmond, thanks for (actually) plowing my street!

Less than 10 days ago, I sarcastically thanked the City of Richmond for not plowing my street and I got more flack from our readership than you could possibly imagine.

Tony Harris, RVA Mag’s creator, even got a call from his mom who asked why one of his writers was so ‘weak and feeble’ for being unable to dig themselves out of the snow.

When a 60+ Korean lady calls you weak and feeble you’ve got to make sure you man-up when ever possible.

Well, I know when to take a big bite of humble pie so I’m gonna go ahead and fork-up here real quick.

So… thanks City of RVA for plowing my street yesterday.

Sure, the storm we got this week was pretty different from the last one, but temps still dropped real fast last night and had the mighty fleet of plows not snaked its way through our block (even though its a one-way!) lord knows how boned me and my roommates would be today.

Prior to the plows coming through, I actually took steps to dig my car out some as well – the sounds of facebook comments echoing in my ears with each thrust of my snow shovel.

I’d also like to apologize for calling out the city’s ‘plow map,’ which I said wasn’t working at the time we last addressed the issue.

One reader pointed out the map actually does work if you’re using the Internet Explorer browser. I guess this made sense in the broader scheme considering IE was the largest used browser until the fall of 2012.

But Chrome is nearly double the next most-used browser these days, so maybe the city should update their plow map system.

Either way, a digital plowing map didn’t help me dig out my car or get my street plowed, so it’s kind of moot.

Alright, everyone get back to work, the roads are fine this morning.
