Say what you want about the Richmond Times dispatch, they are the only folks in town with a consistent daily news staff not forced to condense things into a 45 second video and there’s something to be said for that.
But beyond the nature of their content, my personal favorite part of any TD story is 1) when it deals with a racially charged issue and 2) the comments the facebook posts get.
Not even the actual story, just the FB post (cause you know none of them even bothered to read into what is actually going on.)
Case and point, take a post today about St. Paul’s Episcopal Church removing Confederate images from it’s hallowed walls.
It’s a private church, they can do what they want. Plus they’re Episcopal so it’s kind of like Christianity lite to begin with. I don’t really care what they do with their walls or bible covers, but man do I love watching idiots from both sides duke it out in public.
I don’t know where in FB’s Terms of Service it gives everyone with a log in a PHD in American history and constitutional law, but I’m glad to see people expressing their right to freedom of speech like an 8-year-old eats Halloween candy.
So go ahead and pop some pop-corn and watch as this Facebook post gets from bad to worse to just hilarious.
