A few weeks back, the legendary punk rocker, artist, author, and style icon Kid Congo Powers electrified a packed house at Fuzzy Cactus. Kid’s musical journey is nothing short of iconic, with stints in Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave, and Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds. The tour was in support of their latest album, This Delicious Vice, released on In the Red Records.

Supporting acts included Shawnis and The Shimmers, along with DC supergroup The Owners. Michael D. Thorn of Razorblades & Aspirin was on hand to capture the night in photos.

For those that don’t know — Kid Congo Powers, born Brian Tristan, is a legendary figure in the punk and rock scenes. He’s best known for his work as a guitarist with some iconic bands like The Gun Club, The Cramps, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. A California native, he was heavily influenced by the Chicano rock bands of the area. Over the years, he’s been part of various influential music projects, but his current band, The Pink Monkey Birds, really captures his eclectic style. Kid Congo is also famous for his unique punk aesthetic, seamlessly blending music and style to create an immersive experience. His career spans decades, and he’s still making waves with his raw, soulful approach to rock and roll.
