What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts’ desire.
If you missed last week’s beer news, you can check those out here. Our cup is overflowing with news this week from releases to events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!
Steam Bell Beer Works has a funky new release for you this Friday with its Hibiscus Cucumber Gose, Extra Plenty. Packed with extra plenty amounts of hibiscus and locally sourced cucumber, this goes blends into a deliciously refreshing taste reminiscent of watermelon candy. Pink Himalayan salt brings in a hint of salinity, making this gose a perfect summer go-to. Smoke & Wine Band will be the live music for the evening, with Dank Eats serving up some grub.
This Friday, Hardywood has its dry-hopped hefeweizen, Citraweisse, at all locations on draft and in cans.
It’s Third Thursday at The Veil Brewing Co. and they’re back with a new non-profit who will benefit from the night’s sales. This week, the brewery is giving back to the Richmond Justice Initiative, which raises awareness of the crime of human trafficking. 15 percent of sales from 5p-8p will go toward the organization. Bratwurst and Schnitzels from The German Snack Shack will be served to help soak up all the booze.
Today, head over to Vasen Brewing Co. for their hefeweizen release. Party starts at 3 pm, get there before its gone.
This Thursday, Ardent Craft Ales will release its Peach Mango Gose, which is packed with tropical fruit flavor and aroma alongside the tartness and salinity of a classic gose. Curry in a Hurry will be the food truck serving up good eats in the beer garden
Powhatan’s Fine Creek Brewing Co. will have its newest bottle release this Saturday with its Wine Barrel Aged Oud Bruin, a sour brown ale with caramel and dark chocolate notes. Damian Allen will be playing at the brewery from 4:30-7:30 PM.
This Friday, Isley Brewing is back with its weekly infusion. This go around, it’s a Strawberry Kettle Sour. Happy Hour starts at 4 PM and Return of the Mac food truck will be there to provide all the delicious mac and cheese dishes to go along with your sour brews.
This Thursday, Three Notch’d RVA Collab House returns with its weekly collaboration. This week, its Key Ingredient, a Blonde Ale with lime courtesy of head brewer, Willey Broaddus. Perfect brew to beat the heat! Pint Specials from 4-7pm.
Garden Grove Brewery & Urban Winery will host its 3rd annual Anthem LemonAid benefit this weekend which raises money for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. $1.00 of every draft will be donated and just for this event, the Carytown brewery will release a
Tri-Lemon Saison, brewed with wheat, Lemon Verbena, Lemongrass, Lemon Peel, and Sorachi Ace hops.
This Friday, Canon & Draw Brewing Company will release its Cherry Lime Gose, a variant on their original salty, tart gose.
Final Gravity Brewing Co. will bring back its lll Technique DIPA this Friday, a hazy, fresh 8% DIPA brewed with Jarrylo and Citra hops. It’s a mash-up of hard-core citrus mixed with the subtle smoothness of spice and pear – straight up Juicy Fruit. Get some!
And this Sunday, Final Gravity is hosting a beer and oyster brunch featuring oysters from Rappahannock Oyster Co. 3 for $5 and 6 for $10.
Legend Brewing Company has just tapped its Toasted Coconut Brown Ale, a variant of their beloved Brown Ale with caramel, molasses and added toasted coconut finish. Grab it before its gone!
This Saturday, Isley will also host a Richmond Mounted Police Benefit Day. Come out and meet your Richmond Mounted Squad, and yes, the actual horses will be there. Live music, food trucks, giant Jenga, cornhole, and the release of “One More IPA”, a juicy New England IPA.
