Just like every serial killer in every slasher flick casually strolling behind the dumb blonde who’s running for her life but keeps tripping every few steps, Halloween is creeping up on us.
Edgar Allan Poe. The ghosts of Confederate soldiers. The collapsed train tunnel beneath Church Hill. The Hollywood Cemetery vampire. Richmond has been a haunted town for centuries, going all the way back to the curse Chief Powhatan cast upon the area in the 17th century. In light of the city’s supernatural history, confining our Halloween celebrations to just one night never seemed like the way to go. This is why, nine years ago, RVA Magazine created the week long celebration of this uncanny holiday known as Halloweek.
