In the music video for Paul Willson’s “The Chase,” the viewer is confronted with a pleasant meld of past and present—further reinforcing the idea of duality that often appears throughout Willson’s work. His most recent (and third) album, Heaven Reaches, was actually in two parts: the first entitled Earth and the second Sky. The record was what Willson called a “spirited collaboration” between various musicians. As could be predicted by the album name, his sound is soft and mellow.

“The Chase” follows suit and is a smooth melody with a fitting video to accompany the sound. Intriguing and unique not only describe Willson’s style of music, but also the video which serves to visualize the song.

Willson is not only a solo musician, but also the monthly organizer for The Camel’s monthly singer-songwriter night where he brings together some of the city’s finest talents to showcase their latest work and original tunes.

Willson will perform and host The Camel’s Singer/Songwriter Night 3rd Anniversary event next Tuesday, 6/24.
