What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly beer column.

We’ve brewed up quite a bit of news so all you beer thirsty folks can be in the know about recent news and actually have something fun to do with your weekend other than sitting on the couch stuffing your face with Doritos and binging on Netflix.

Fall is in full swing so we’re seeing lots of pumpkin, maple, different spices, apples, Oktoberfests and other autumn brews from the breweries! Now hold on to your mugs because we’re ready to tap this thing! But first check out what you missed last week:

RVA Mag wrapped up its spooky, strange and all around weird annual celebration of Halloweek. ANd this year, Hardywood made us a beer all our our own to in honor of the celebration, Bride of Frankenbier. brewery’s bourbon barrel aged Mega Stout and bourbon barrel aged Quad shocked with fresh IPA

Triple Crossing’s release of their newest hop forward elixir, The Masque of The Red Death Imperial Red Ale! This beer was brewed in collaboration with The Poe Museum just in time for Halloween.

Now on to this week’s booze news:

RVA has been in a frenzy over craft beer since Hardywood. We’ve created special events, festivals, parties and anything we can think of just we can drink it. Now we have an official week dedicated to one of the things Richmond loves most: beer.

RVA Beer Week kicked off Halloween and will run with events at breweries and bars all over town until this Sunday Nov. 8.
You can find a full list of all the events here but I’ll list some ones that look especially cool that you should hit up!

Tonight, Nov. 4, REVENGE OF THE GINGERS- Sticky Rice RVA- 7pm- A night for the red heads! Featuring the first taste of Gingerbread Stout in RVA and Other HW ginger beer varients on tap.
Get a sneak peek taste pf “Drunken Uncle” VA’s first hard root beer!- Isley Brewing.

Thursday, Nov. 5, Ardent in Scott’s Addition is having a bar crawl! 5:30pm, Lunch/Supper, Sabai, Fat Dragon. Special kegs and pins at each location!!

Isley Brewing is celebrating RVA Beer Week all week long with specials, steal the vessel nights, beer releases, and puppy friendly parties!

Midnight Brewery will have some tasty brews in honor of beer week including Man Overboard, a Belgian Tripel, and Dark Winters Night, a bold Stout.

This event is a BIG one for RVA BEER WEEK. Center of the Universe is hosting a Carytown Bathrode Barcrawl on Fri. Nov. 6.

Celebrate the return of The Big LeBYRDski with a new pregame ritual. Pull out that bathrobe grandma gave you last Christmas and strut your stuff all along Carytown. Go around to the supporting restaurants at the link above and of course, head to watch the cult classic at The Byrd. All proceeds from this event benefit The Byrd Theatre Foundation. Admission is only for those 21+ and includes one COTU El Duderino beer with ticket. Doors open at 8:00 PM, curtain up at 8:30 PM. Tickets are $10.

On Sat. Nov. 7, hit up the Brunswick Stew & Stout Festival– 17th ST. Historic Farmers Market- 12pm-5pm- Some of the best and rarest VA stouts all in one place!

Also on Saturday, The Cask Turns 2. There will be a big ‘ole party in the parking lot. Lots of kegs, a DJ and hotdogs!

Strangeways has lots of goodies for RVA BEER WEEK! On Thursday, they will have Sugar Shack Donut & Beer Pairings, Habi-Taps for Humanity Happy Hour and Drawing for $100 Beer Tray. The brewery will design a donut and beer flight just for you!

On Saturday, Strangeways will release its O.T.I.S. Cucumber Melon Sour. njoy a trio of sours: O.T.I.S. Cucumber Melon Sour, O.T.I.S. Gin Barrel Aged with Juniper and Rose Hips, and O.T.I.S. Tequila Barrel Aged with Lime.

On Sunday, its Beeristoric Tour of Richmond!- Starting at The ANswer & Capital Ale House Downtown- 1130am-7pm. Special Richmond Brewed Beers!

Also on Sunday Nov. 8, is the Lumber Ladies Bar Crawl and Brunch. A bar crawl with the finest female beer reps of RVA! 1st-Brunch Post Bellum-2:00pm, District 5-3:30pm. Lady Nawlins/FW Sullivans-5:00pm, Commercial Tap-6:30pm, Cask Café. So go pound beers to the face and have the best time ever while wearing flannel!!!

Also on Sunday, the release of the Isley Porter Pack! 22oz bottles of Bribe, Choosy, and Boozy Mother! Dogs on deck! YES!!

The Answer is celebrating all week long as well!! THURSDAY: “Thirsty Thursday with Allagash Brewing Company.” Friday Soirée with Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits.” THey are also part of the beeristoric tour!

Hardywood is throwing down for a good cause with Ales for ALS on Fi. Nov. 6. There will be two pale ale releases!

Get ready RVA, because Hardywood is releasing the beer that you love more than life itself: Gingerbread Stout! Yes, try and keep the drool from dripping all over your computer. There’s a pre-release bottle sale Nov 6. and the actual party goes down Saturday Nov. 7. For those that don’t know, its a creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of flavors from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon to a snap of ginger in the finish.

Ardent is releasing their seasonal Dark rye brew Nov. 7.

Blue Bee Cider is hosting a tailgate party along with a new cider release Sat. Nov. 7. The cider is their popular raspberry and blackberry infused cider, Mill Race Bramble! Live music and food!

Lickinghole Creek and The UVA Club of Richmond bring you theFirst Annual WAHOO CUP Craft Brewers Invitational, pitting the top breweries in Richmond versus their colleagues from Charlottesville. The winning brew will be selected by beer fans and an all-star panel of judges! Tickets $10.

Isley will release its “Going Mintal” mint chocolate stout this Sat. Nov. 7. Its a collaboration with the Ladies of Lager.

On Saturday November 7, they will have their Nectar and Knife Bottle Release from 12-10pm.
