A Virginia Beach hip hop artist has released a raw, but fun party track and a new music video to go along with it.

Max Fullard just dropped a video Friday for his latest track “And One.” It shows him partying with his friends as he rapidly spits his rhymes over a smooth beat.

“And One, was written for rage moments,” said Fullard. “I just set a date to record the video and invited homies out, Gabe, Carter, & my homie Bradley grabbed some instruments and we rocked out.”

The young hip hop artist and Philadelphia native started taking his work seriously in 2007 when he released For The Listeners under the name Max Mega and has been at it ever since.

Fullard said part of the video was recorded in Fantastic Planet studios at the NorVa in Norfolk and other scenes were shot at his Virginia Beach house and at an abandoned baseball facility.

“And One” features members of the VA Beach-based hip hop group RBLE (pronounced Rebel-E) Ced Hughes, Artel Carter, and fellow Virginia rapper D.R.A.M.

“Me and D.R.A.M met a while ago in the Virginia music scene, we didn’t start linking up until he helped me out on my last album, A Rebel Named Max,” he said. “He started working with Gabe (producer) more and so it led to us being the same circle often.”

The music video gets you pumped for a night out and is shot in a vintagey low-fi style, which is the look Fullard said he was going for.

“I wanted to capture 90’s grunge hip hop feels,” he said. “I used to love doing shows with my homies in high school at Cici’s Pizza. I wanted that feeling back.”

Produced by Gabe Niles, this is the second single off Fullard’s upcoming mixtape, Nights of the Fourth, which he expects to release soon.

:It’s my story and my history,” he said. “I aim for that to be after SXSW at least. All the songs are written, just need to polish and perfect it.”

Check out some of his other music here and be on the lookout for more from Fullard.
