Our beloved jazz-metal band Dumb Waiter, that we can always count on to bring the weird, has premiered a new song on music publication New Noise Magazine.

The new song, “Greedy As Fuck” comes in apologetically heavy with guitars and Tristan Brennis swift with the sax. He’s a mad man on that thing! “Greedy As Fuck” is off the band’s second album, Cancel Christmas which will be out May 27th via JUJU records, but RVA gets to see Dumb Waiter perform the new album at Hardywood on April 29th with reunited band NAVI. Keep an eye out for an interview with them about that soon!

Check out Dumb Waiter performing “Greedy As Fuck” live for AudioTree below:

I’ve been digging their blend of math rock and jazz since RVA Mag covered their live session from AudioTree in December. Their music is just an amazing mix of sounds that can’t quite be wedged into one category or genre. And that’s hard to combine all of those elements and make them mesh well together, but that’s what Dumb Waiter manages to do, time and time again. The groovy sounds of the thumping bass coupled with the wild and free saxophone make for the perfect combination.

The six-minute song switches up just before the three-minute mark to a more upbeat, livelier jam where there’s some serious bass slapping and drums and a meandering sax of course. If this is any indication of what’s on their album, we’re in for a treat.

Dumb Waiter will go on tour starting next week and wrap up in DC in May.
