Next month, Epic Fest, a staple in Richmond’s hip hop music scene will return for its sixth year to bring together talented artists from around Virginia and beyond for three days of performances at various locations around the city.

The festival, run by local promoter Slapdash RVA, revealed its lineup on Monday which includes up and coming artists as well as seasoned performers in the regional hip hop scene. Some formidable performing acts to mention are RVA artists Chance Fischer and Peter $un, Cameron Murdoch from Norfolk, Tyler Wrighteous from Stafford, and Era Hardaway from Fredericksburg.

Chance Fischer is one of the hottest names in the Richmond scene of music right now. He has been putting in the groundwork to be in the forefront of the music scene in Richmond since 2010 with his debut mixtape HERE. Fischer’s holy style of rap bridges a spiritual and hip-hop essence together. His most recent track “Yellow Brick Road” displays this bridge of genres. You can read up on Fischer in our interview with him from last year here.

This will be Fischer’s second time performing at Epic Fest.

With his eclectic beat selection and raspy unique vocals its hard to ignore RVA native Peter $un. After the success of his debut EP, Sunset Castle in 2015 $un embarked on his first three-city sold Out mini-tour which garnered him a more solidified fan base on the East Coast & beyond. With continued music, visuals and touring ahead $un is in a prime position to take the industry by storm. $un was also a performer at last year’s Epic Fest.

Hailing from Norfolk, Cameron Murdoch is no stranger to the hip hop festival. This will be the musician’s third year performing and hopefully we get to see what he’s been working on lately. Murdoch been making waves within his city with his very smooth and relaxing music. Murdoch fuses an electronic feel blended with a tad bit of hip-hop. You can see this display of fusing genres in Murdoch’s single “Regular Guy,” which solidified his presence and style of music.

Tyler Wrighteous is a 24-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from Stafford. Inspired by the honest lyrics and musical freedom of artists such as Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Mike Shinoda, Damon Albarn, and many others, Wrighteous aspires to tell his story through his unwavering wordplay and lyricism. Wrighteous’s most recent song, “Cheat Code,” shows the artist’s creativity with his lyrics. Wrighteous creates a very dark vibe with this song.

Era Hardaway of Fredericksburg is more than just a “rapper,” he is an artist. Hardaway is crafting his sound out of emotion and real life experiences. Hardaway has been submerged into a musical environment of hip-hop, house, and R&B his entire life. With his latest hit, “On the Low” being released this year, he has created a tremendous buzz and is someone to look forward to at the upcoming hip hop festival.

RVA’s Dr. Millionaire and Tim Porter will also perform at the festival.

Epic Fest VI will take place June 15th-18th at Gallery5, Strange Matter, and The Top RVA in Shockoe Bottom .Check out the entire lineup for the festival here and be on the lookout for a more in-depth story on Epic Fest.
