Tapped: Garden Grove’s Knight Rider, Oktoberfest, and Strangeways unleashes its Imperial Pumpkin Porter

Our cup is overflowing with news this week, but first head over here to check out what awesome brews were released in Richmond last weekend.

We’ve got new beer releases, a beer dinner, breweries expanding and more so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

On Saturday, Ardent Craft Ales will release its Sweet Potato & Sage brew, a 6.4% farmhouse-style saison.

Hardywood will release its Tropication 2.0 today (Wednesday), a super fruity IPA.

And on Friday, Hardywood will release its Blueberry and Apricot Berliner Weisse, a German style sour wheat ale in cans.

This Friday Garden Grove Brewing Co will release “Knight Rider”, a strong Belgian Golden Ale accented with Tangerine, Roses and lemony Sorachi Ace hops that clocks in at a whopping 9.6% ABV.

And on Thursday, Garden Grove will kick off a Musical Mystery Tour with Classical Revolution RVA to host a Bicycle Scavenger Hunt in Carytown. It’s free & open to any kind of people on any kind of bike! You’ll solve clues to find musicians hidden around the Fan and the Museum District then meet for more music, awards & celebration at GGBC. No registration is required–just show up at 6:00 p.m. at W.Cary & Auburn for the hunt or meet up in the taproom at 7pm for the party.

Head down to Lickinghole Creek this weekend for to pick all the sunflowers you can carry! Everyone is welcome to come to the Farm to take pictures and pick sunflowers free of charge during Tasting Room Hours of Operation. Food trucks and live music each night!

For all you pumpkin lovers out there, Strangeways will release one just for you this Saturday and Sunday. The Gourd o Thunder Imperial Pumpkin Porter brewed with freshly picked local pumpkins that were ripened on the vine while continuously listening to heavy metal. The malty pumpkin backbone fuses robustly with a milky sugar creaminess. Bourbon vanilla beans lay down a rock-steady foundation that drives the cinnamon, ginger and clove spices through your skull.

Midnight Brewery will release its Mitternacht Oktoberfest brew on Saturday. No details on the brew, but its Oktoberfest so it has to be delicious.

Speaking of Oktoberfest, St. Benedict’s 12th Annual Oktoberfest kicks off this Friday and will run until Sunday. Over 60 beers on tap, German food, dancing, music an of course, the annual stein holing competition. Hanover and Belmont.

Center of the Universe recently announced it will expand with a second production facility and taproom in Ashland. You can check out our story on it here.

This Saturday, Isley Brewing will host the Get Outdoors RVA festival Sept. 17 in their alley. The Participants:
– Richmond Cycling Corps with Amazing Bike demos!
– Peak Experiences Indoor Rock Climbing Center doing climbing challenges & exclusive membership offers!
– Fleet Feet Richmond with a group run beginning and ending at Isley Brewing Company!
– Walkabout Outfitter selling amazing outdoor gear!
– X-Team Fitness promoting their outdoor fitness program!
Food trucks, music and beer of course!

On Monday, The Veil Brewing Co. will host a Chef Spotlight Dinner with Adam Hall of Saison. Four-course meal with beer pairings! Tickets $69.
