For all of you food truck-junkies, you might have already heard of Goatocado, a fresh and innovative idea that brings a mix of flavors to your healthy living.

For all of you food truck-junkies, you might have already heard of Goatocado, a fresh and innovative idea that brings a mix of flavors to your healthy living. Goatocado has been featured throughout the city, maintaining spots on VCU campus as well as inside Carytown Bicycle Company.

But the independent small business, lead by Chester-native Ian Newell (top image), now has a permanent residence on West Main Street starting today. Newell described the new location as “a dual space where you can get fast service as well a place to grab a beer and hang out with friends.”

The building was designed in collaboration with local business Ironworks, to create a craftsman-meets-commercial feel.

“The kitchen takes up a large part of our space because it’s necessary, especially when you factor in catering as well as festivals” said Newell. One of the first things a visitor will notice is the size of the seating area vs. the size of the building – there’s easily 70% of the operation invisible to those in front of the checkout line.

But with a kitchen to call home, the restaurant will be able to expand their menu options.

Those familiar with the limited variety available to a food cart operation should get pumped to see Newell’s new base “flavors.” You will be able to take a trip around the world with the choice of from 5 options including Japanese, Italian, Greek, Vietnamese, and Californian and then add from there.

Beyond the new location, the vegetarian and vegan operation will expand to include meat options for the first time in five and a half years after building a partnership with Harrisonburg’s Shenandoah Valley Organics to provide customers with the choice of a chicken, But they’ll still stick to their environmentally conscious framework.

They have also partnered with Seasonal Roots to provide locally sourced products.

Newell has a clear idea of providing the best of both worlds, one that combines a healthy, conscious state of mind and palate that fits in the on-the-go lifestyle.

The new location will also feature 6-10 beers on tap that range from your favorite local brews all the way to Kingfisher, a favorite brought back from India.

“We have spent a lot of time at breweries and observing the way they work,” said Newell. “We wanted to incorporate a table-side service to our location.”

In addition to beer, Goatocado will also provide customers with wine options as well as their own drink favorites that include pomegranate gingerade and mint-lime iced tea.

Goatocado’s Grand opening is Tuesday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. and is located at 1823 WEST MAIN ST, RICHMOND, VA 23235.

Although they feature a permanent location, you can still get your daily fix on the go with their food truck and brewery locations as well. Stay up to date with Goatocado news by following their Instagram page @Goatocado. You can also take a look at their updated menu here.
