DAILY FIX: White Laces, “Hands In Mexico”

by | Aug 24, 2011 | MUSIC

Here’s the brand new video for the excellent new White Laces single “Hands In Mexico,” which will be released in the near future by Harding Street Assembly Lab on a split 10″ vinyl record with The Snowy Owls. We’ve already told you in detail how awesome the song is, so if you haven’t heard it yet, let me just say you’re in for a treat and leave it at that. The real revelation here is the excellent clip, directed by Danny Lerch and starring Kristen Lawrence and White Laces guitarist Alex French. It starts out seeming much sweeter than their gory, disturbing clip for previous single “Motorik Twilight,” but something about the way the girl in the video is acting seems a bit off from the start. Things take a turn for the disturbing in the video’s last moment, which we are hopefully not spoiling too much by describing as strongly reminiscent of the myth of the Sirens. In this video, Richmond landmark Texas Beach stands in for the rocky cliffs of Anthemoessa, but the end our unwary protagonist meets is all too similar. Words can’t really do it justice–you’re going to want to see it for yourself.
