The fact that my schoolwork hindered the timely completion of the Bass Bulletin this week is playing in you faithful readers’ favor. Couple awesome things this week, the first being the Porter Robinson BBC Radio 1 Stream.

The fact that my schoolwork hindered the timely completion of the Bass Bulletin this week is playing in you faithful readers’ favor. Couple awesome things this week, the first being the Porter Robinson BBC Radio 1 Stream. Robinson is a 19 year old baby producer phenom out of Raleigh who brings an aggressive electro ruckus. The BBC Radio 1 show is a bit of an honor for DJs, in which they are invited to drop sets/essential mixes ranging from 20 minutes to an hour. We got lucky and PRob brought us a full hour of luscious musical endeavour with his first appearance. About midway through he drops an original mix called “100% In The Bitch” which is quickly becoming a new favorite. If you are around Richmond and want to catch this less than legal superstar live, he’ll be at Fur Nightclub in DC next weekend.

Now for some new electrosoulhiphop from Pretty Lights; that is, Derek Vincent Smith. Pretty Lights sealed the deal for me with electronic music, essentially opening the door for my taste in house and techno. Smith has taken over since the release of “Finally Moving,” in which he brought Etta James vocals back from the dead (only to be buried again in a distasteful pop collective by Flo Rida). Lately, the entire Pretty Lights Music label, which includes producers like Gramatik, Break Science, Paper Diamond, and more, has been releasing new shit at a high frequency. Derek has been quietly busy as well. He finally gave everyone something to be happy about with his release of “We Must Go On,” a track filled with positive messages and deep mellow vibes consistent with that priceless PLM label sound.

This Week’s Must Hears:
Afrojack – Can’t Stop Me
Hardwell – Spaceman
Outkast – Mrs. Jackson [Cry Wolf Remix]
Marty Party – Requiem For A Dream Remix
Nero – Must Be The Feeling [Delta Heavy Remix]

This Week In Richmond:
I will be hitting the SOJA show on Friday, Feb. 3 at the National to indulge in my love for reggae. The rest of you should be preparing for Rusko on Feb 6th, also at the National. This means buy your ticket and save your energy, because Rusko doesn’t stop moving during his entire set, and neither will you.
