What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts desire.
Our cup is overflowing with news this week, but first head over here to check out what awesome brews were released in Richmond last weekend.
So 2017 started off pretty crazy and it seems it’s just getting crazier by the day, but one thing you can count on is RVA Mag will always have the scoop on where you can go to get the finest craft beer in town! This week we have new beer releases, events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!
Hardywood is releasing their refreshing brew Tropication today (Wednesday), a super juicy, fruity IPA.
Lickinghole Creek will release its Kentucky French Toast, a 10% Bourbon Barrel Imperial Brown Ale that is generously hopped with American grown hops and aged for months in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. We then add Vermont Maple Syrup and let it ferment in the bourbon barrels.
On Thursday, Isley Brewing will release Drunken Uncle, a 6% hard root beer.
This Sunday, Isley Brewing will also host its first RVA Paper Bowl and Super Bowl Viewing Party! ISLEY will be celebrating Super Bowl Sunday starting at 3:30pm with the first ever ISLEY RVA Paper Bowl, a paper football tournament to decide the 2017 city champion. Competitors must sign up in person at the brewery between now and February 5th. This will be a single-elimination, head-to-head tournament, with the winner receiving a one-month VIP pass to ISLEY, which entitles the champion two free 12oz. beers per day. Stick around after to watch the big game on the big screen with one of a dozen craft beers on tap.

Triple Crossing’s Fulton location will release two brews this Friday. Their Waxing Poetic Berliner Weisse makes its canned debut with a heavy infusion of Mango and Passionfruit puree, and the brewery is launching the latest batch of Green Dreams DIPA, in cans for the first time. Can sales start at noon on Friday.
This Saturday, February 4th, Midnight Brewery will release their monthly new beer! This time, it’s a Chocolate Cherry Stout.
On Thursday, Legend will release its pale ale Ütebier at the Pub and February 6th on local shelves!
Final Gravity is showing the love this Valentine’s Day with a fundraiser for Prevent A Litter.
20% of all purchases of Venus Rising Double IPA and Venus IPA on 2/14 will go to PAL. The brewery will also be giving away homemade organic dog treats using FG spent grain for your furry valentine.

Steam Bell Beer Works is throwing a Super Bowl Party on the 5th opening their doors at 1:00 PM, kick-off is at 6:30 PM and they’ll stay open ’til the game ends. Besides beers, enjoy burgers from Gregory’s Grill, oysters, wings and more while you watch the game on the big screen.
Center of the Universe in Ashland will release Great Scotch, a Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale on Saturday.
So not only has Scott’s Addition’s The Veil Brewing recently come out with an oreo beer, yes you read that right an oreo beer called Oreo Hornswoggler, a 7%-robust chocolate milk stout conditioned on hundreds of Oreo cookies that’s been getting tons of national attention, but the brewery itself has received a huge accolade.

The Veil Brewing Co. was named Best New Brewer in the world (out of 6,500 new producers world wide)and #1 Best New Brewer in Virginia at this year’s RateBeer Best Awards.
If you haven’t had a chance to try their beer yet, head over this weekend for their Super Bowl Viewing Party this weekend. The game will be shown on two huge screens inside of their tasting room. They will begin the showing around 5:30-6pm with a scheduled kick-off at 6:30 and they will stay open until the end of the game(however long that takes). Seating is first come, first served and there is no admission/cover charge. Carytown Burgers and Fries providing food!
Three Notch’d Brewing Company’s RVA Collab House Tap That Thursday brew will be “There Will Be Braggot v3.0” a Braggot Tripel and collaboration with Black Heath Meadery.
Charlottesville’s Starr Hill brewery just announced its plans for a pilot brewery and stage taproom in Roanoke, slated to open this fall. You can read more on our story here.
